Biography

Joygrace Muthoni Kamunya holds a Masters degree in Public Health (MPH) and a in Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BScN) and a practicing nurse-midwife. Currently working as a consultant for Vitamin Angels as their Africa Regional Training Advisor for the past 5 years based in Kenya. Vitamin Angels (VA) is a U.S. based NGO concerned with the global public health problem of under-nutrition. Our mission is to help at-risk populations in need – specifically pregnant women, new mothers, and children under five – gain access to life changing vitamins and minerals. Vitamin Angels partners with local, nonprofit organizations who provide health and nutrition services to underserved women and children.  Vitamin Angels seeks to support only those initiatives that are complementary to and coordinated with existing national health services. My main roles with Vitamin Angels include working with distribution partners by providing follow-up support and technical assistance on an on-going basis, conducting monitoring activities and managing activities of local co-facilitators. 

 

Previously worked for Jhpiego Kenya for 7 years under various Maternal Neonatal Child Heath related projects.  I am a certified Jhpiego master trainer, have experience in conducting trainings using adult learning methodology/Competency Based Trainings, technical knowledge and skills in reproductive health (RH), family planning (FP), maternal-newborn & child health and nutrition (MNCHN). I have had an opportunity to provide Technical Assistance in RH/FP and Nutrition in the Kenya- Bondo, Kakamega, Embu, Nairobi and in the region in countries like Ethiopia, Rwanda, and South Sudan, Malawi, Uganda, Tanzania, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gambia, Zambia, Burundi in  conducting facility training needs assessment, Training materials development and review, Supervision, mentorship and coaching and documentation of training and program activities.
