Biography

Eric Hamilton is the Jan and Robert Davidson Endowed Professor of Education at Pepperdine University, focusing on digital media, researching sites in countries in South America, North America, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, connecting adolescents in virtual makerspace and collaborative project-based learning. This effort is described at http://ic4.site.  He also currently leads a retrospective impact study on a major National Science Foundation (NSF) program to enhance the diversity and quality of the US science and engineering workforce. He is immediate past board chair for Boulder Learning, focusing on literacy development, & has lectured and given keynote talks on AI in education. He is Pepperdine University's inaugural recipient of the Stephen D. Davis Award for Scholarly Achievement.

 

Hamilton carried out a one-year assignment as senior program officer for critical and emerging issues in curriculum and related areas at UNESCO's International Bureau of Education (IBE) in Geneva Switzerland, working with education ministries for UN member states.  He also led the US side of effort funded by the Finnish and US governments in education innovation, and completed a three-year Fulbright in Namibia. As a member of the federal senior executive service, he was an NSF division director, and subsequently was a faculty member and research center director at the US Air Force Academy. He owns US and overseas patents in pen-based network collaborative technologies.  A former secondary and middle school mathematics teacher, he studied at Northwestern and the University of Chicago.
