Biography
Babacar J. Diop is the chairman of the African Leaders Factory Initiative (ALFI), a non-profit organization that empowers young Africans to become the next generation of leaders. Born in Senegal, West Africa, Babacar studied International Finance at the Institut Africain de Management before realizing his passion for creating opportunities for youth across the continent. He has been to Kansas State University where he has also studied Civic Leadership at Staley School of Leadership. In 2017, Babacar founded ALFI, which provides mentorship, training, and resources to young leaders in over 20 African countries through its flagship program, the ALFI Fellowship. The program focuses on developing leadership skills, promoting entrepreneurship, and fostering a sense of community and social responsibility. Under his leadership, ALFI has grown rapidly thanks to internet and established partnerships with leading universities, corporations, and nonprofits. Babacar is a sought-after speaker and advocate for youth empowerment in Africa, recognized for his contributions to social entrepreneurship and youth development by organizations such as the United Nations, American Express, Ashoka, and even the US Department of State. He remains committed to empowering Africa's youth to lead with integrity, creativity, and compassion, and providing them with the tools and supports they need to succeed.
