Biography
Project Manager eAcademy Tourism and Hospitality at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ)
Dr. Andreas Hofmann is a part of the GIZ tourism for sustainable development team with the sector project cooperation with the private sector. This GIZ unit advises the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) on all issues related to tourism and hospitality in international development as well as coordinates with GIZ's global tourism projects. Andreas' current focus is on eLearning in cooperation with the private sector and risk-informed management for resilient tourism destinations. Prior to his work at GIZ in Germany, Andreas worked for a GIZ implemented EU Switch Asia project in Luang Prabang focusing on cultural tourism and local value chains, and as Managing Director for Asian Trails Laos.
He holds a PhD from International Centre for Research in Events, Tourism and Hospitality (ICRETH) at Leeds Beckett University and a Masters from SOAS, London.
