Biography
Aldred Dreyer is an experienced professional in the digital broadcast and telecommunications industries. He is a skilled executive, engineer & project manager with extensive experience in rolling out large scale ICT projects in emerging markets. He started out his career as a technician at the national signal distributor, Sentech, investigating digital transmission systems and how it can be deployed in South Africa.
His most notable achievement was the successful implementation of a national digital terrestrial television network in Namibia, making it one of four countries in Africa to meet the June 2015 ITU deadline.
He has held executive positions at the Departement of Communications, the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation, eTV and managment positions at SABC, Seentech and Accenture.
He is a qualified trainer, an avid coach and has developed and presented various digital broadcasting courses throughout his career. Aldred holds a B-Tech in Electrical Engineering and runs his own consulting company.
He is currently the chairperson of the Digital Radio Mondial (DRM) South Africa group. The aim of the group is to Advocate the use of DRM as the preferred standard for digital sound broadcasting in South Africa and create Awareness of DRM with the general public, stakeholders, suppliers, manufacturers, retailers and all government entities.
